Many commonly held beliefs are medical myths, according to a research report published in the British Medical Journal. If you think you need to drink eight glasses of water a day to stay healthy you may be wrong. BBC News video report.

I think there is a lot of myths or folk lore in medicine. Some of it actually has some health benefit or evidence of working. But I'm sure there are a lot of remedies that perhaps only work as a placebo and nothing more.
